About The Wild Swim Society

The Wild Swim Society is a world map for wild swimming: the water temperature of seas, lakes and rivers, open to everyone, and a map of swimming spots that its members share with each other.

Who it is for

For people who swim outdoors: in the sea, in lakes or in rivers, in summer and in winter. Want to know if the water is good before you hit the road? Looking for where the sea will be warm enough the month of your holidays? Want to keep your spots somewhere without showing them to everyone? That is what the site is for.

What you will find

What the site covers

The whole planet. Measurements come from public agencies and open data, credited one by one in Sources and credits. Where there is no instrument, the map shows a satellite or model estimate. It is always labelled: an estimate is never presented as a measurement.

What the site is not

It is not a guide to lifeguarded beaches. A spot listed here is neither recommended nor guaranteed safe. Temperature tells you nothing about the current, the bottom or the water quality: always look at the place with your own eyes before you get in.

Members' spots are not public. Without an account, you see none of them. Neither do search engines.

Since when

The Wild Swim Society has been online since October 2026.
